European Parliament Roundtable - Towards a European Social Services Framework

Ahead of the 2024 European elections, the European Social Network (ESN) conducted a survey to find out which issues managers and senior social services professionals think future MEPs should prioritise in next Parliament. Respondents chose four top priorities:

Addressing challenges related to social services financing.
Quality assurance in social services.
The need to change the model of care towards a more person-centred and community-based one,
Tackling social services workforce challenges.

Based those priorities ESN has put forward a briefing describing four key EU policy actions needed.

In the afternoon of 16 October 2024, we will organise a roundtable (about 2 hours, from 15:00 to 17:00, Brussels Time) in the European Parliament in Brussels to present our key asks for the next parliamentary term – among others an EU strategy on the social services workforce. Each of our 4 key asks will be illustrated by a good practice from our membership. Participants will be asked to meet in front of the parliament at 14:00 to get on time through security checks.
