Ecosystem Map Zoom Background

R&D Ecosystem Survey

The purpose of this survey is to co-create a map of interests and activity of the education research and development (R&D) sector or ecosystem in the United States. Information collected through this survey will be used to deepen our shared understanding of the ecosystem and enable us to increase our impact, both individually and collectively, by cultivating new ideas, finding collaborators, avoiding duplicative efforts, and bridging gaps. This map is intended to outline who is working in the ecosystem, where they are working, and what they are working on. Learn more about this effort and how it will be a tool for the field here.

On the following pages, we ask you to answer questions about yourself, your organization (if applicable), and your education R&D activities. The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

optional

What do we mean when we refer to "education R&D"?

We are including research and development activities to be those that are...
  • Creating products or services for use in real-world PreK-12 learning contexts (i.e. not resulting only in scientific papers)
  • Building from the science of learning and deploying scientific methods
  • Evidence-based, including both evidence gathered from the community and using the scientific method
  • Focusing on continuous improvement
  • Including PreK-12 educators who implement approaches and learn in real-time about the efficacy of approaches
If you are a researcher, education practitioner, product developer or other PreK-12 changemaker engaging in these activities, please complete the survey to get on the map! We’d love to hear from you.

Given that education R&D is an emerging field and includes many sectors, we want to know what you consider to be education R&D. During the survey, you will have the opportunity to share what components you think are critical to define education R&D.
