Apply to join our 2025 API Local News Summit on Local Identity, History and Sustainability

The American Press Institute is hosting a local summit on April 8-9 in Nashville, Tennessee, to identify and advance solutions that help local news organizations build on their community’s history and assets to develop new revenue.

Against the backdrop of declining trust in the media and an increase in news fatigue, especially with national news, this local news summit is designed for discussion and the exchanging of ideas. It's a free, invitation-based convening, and we anticipate up to 70 attendees. Participants must agree to the Chatham House Rule to ensure the openness of the conversations.

If you have experience leading innovative local identity and history projects or coverage for your news organization, or if you work in spaces beyond journalism that would add to our discussion (e.g. archival work, bridge-building, restorative justice or other similar fields), please complete this form by Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 11:59 p.m. ET to be considered for an invitation.

Have questions? Reach out to Kevin Loker, API's senior director of program operations and partnerships at events@pressinstitute.org.

The summit will take place on April 8 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Are you interested and able to attend the full 2-day summit?*
