Liskeard Library Poetry Submission 

Theme: “We Are of This Place”

Rules:

1. All styles of poetry are acceptable.

2. Open to residents of Cornwall.

3. Only one entry per person.

4. Submissions must be stand alone and cannot be extracted from a larger poem.

5. Please submit a maximum of 46 lines per entry in double spaced 12pt Arial or Times New Roman font. .pdf .doc .docx .pages filetypes are all acceptable.

6. Submissions will be judged anonymously, so please ensure that your name does not appear anywhere on your work.

7. Poems must be the entrant’s original work.

8. Entries must not have been published, self-published, or accepted for publication in print or online, published on a website or made public on social media, broadcast or featured among the winners in another competition before 28 February 2025.

9. Entrants retain full copyright, however by entering, all entrants and the winner give permission for their work to be available in Liskeard Library.

10. Due to the volume of applications, the judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into following the results, nor any feedback given.

 Please ensure you submit your poem under the correct category. They are as follows:

 

  • Adult (18 years and over)
  • Young poet (11-17 year olds)
  • Cornish Language (no age restrictions).

Entrants must reside in Cornwall.

Prize: The winners of the competition will be invited by Liskeard Library to perform their winning poem on 6th of March, alongside Simon Armitage and Pascale Petit.

 

Deadline: The closing date for entries is midnight on 16th February 2025 and the winners will be announced on 28th February.

Please note judges will not be able to give feedback on unsuccessful applications.
