GLOBAL IMPACT Startup Visa

We're excited to hear more about you and your business!

Your completed application will be added to the waitlist for the Global ISV Program 2025.
Due to IRCC imposed quota of 10 accepted startups per designated entity per year effective April 30, 2024, the selection process is highly competitive.  Only candidates qualified for the next stage of the application process will be contacted.  Fees will be discussed with successful teams only.
 
The following questions will be used for our due diligence process.  Key evaluation criteria:
INNOVATION, IMPACT, LEGITIMACY, VIABILITY, COMPETENCY

As part of our commitment to ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the information collected through our forms, we will not accept submissions that have used ChatGPT or any other automated text generation tools. We strongly encourage you to provide answers in your own words.

We will use this email address to communicate with you throughout the application process. Please ensure you are using the same email address for all forms for consistency.

Section 1: Company & Team Overview

The main applicant for the Startup Visa will be the main point of contact for your visa application and program participation.

Please provide the first and last name for the main applicant. Kindly note a maximum of 5 members (including the main applicant) is permitted on each team.

Please write a short bio about each team member who will be applying for ISV. The description should include all relevant industry and/or startup experience. Highlight your competency.

 

Kindly note if you receive an offer of acceptance, it will be for the team members listed in this form/the team members present in the interview. Please make sure you have a finalized your team members before submitting this form and attending the interview.

 

If any changes need to be made to your team after submitting your due diligence form/attending the interview, kindly note the new team will need to undergo the same process, i.e. a new due diligence form and a new interview. An offer to the program is not guaranteed for the new team.

Please provide information on how long (in number of years) the main applicant has known each team member and offer a brief description of the professional relationship with each individual. 
Identify & highlight any significant benefits to the Canadian economy.
Describe the solution to the problem your business is trying to solve - include what your product/service does and its connection to the Canadian market. Highlight your business innovation.
Describe the fundamental purpose of your business. Highlight your legitimacy and the impact your business creates.
Make sure you define your impact and the metrics that are used to measure this impact.

Section 2: Industry Overview

What sector does your business operate in?*
Remember to discuss the trends that may shape the future of this industry especially in the context of the Canadian & North American market.
Describe your customer profile and a target geographic/sectoral area for launch. Make sure it is applicable to the Canadian market.
Please include the market size, success potential, and the need or demand for your solution in Canada. (This can extend to include all of North America, if relevant.)
Describe your strengths and key differentiation.  Focus on the Canadian & North American market.

Section 3: Business Progress

What stage is your business at?*
List any research and development completed, any sales to date, and the number of current customers and their profile.
Discuss how you will develop your product and when you aim to do so (i.e. introduce a second product, purchase new equipment etc.). We want to know what stage your product is currently at and how it will develop and grow over the next 2 years. Highlight your viability.
Do you own any patents, trademarks, or copyrights (i.e. intellectual property or IP) for your company?

Section 4: Additional Documents

The submission form will prompt you to upload a spreadsheet or pdf document outlining your financial projections.

Title your document: "[YOUR COMPANY NAME] Financials - [MAIN APPLICANT NAME]"

Please include the following information in that document: 
1. Projected Start-Up Costs & Break Even: Please list any past purchases, start-up costs, and your break-even analysis.

2. Cashflow Assumptions: Please include details of the assumptions behind your projected sales numbers, significant capital investment as well as context on anticipated sources of any funding assumptions (e.g. loans, grants, investment). 

To be able to apply for the Startup Visa program the IRCC requires all applicants to have reached Canadian Language Benchmark 5 in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Via the submission form, please share with us the score of your IELTS or equivalent language proficiency test for each member of your team.

If you, or your team members, have not yet taken the test, please schedule one and share your test date.

Examples include:

- Patents
- Location & zoning by-laws
- Business or operating licenses
- Contract agreements or Letters of intent (partnerships, independent contractors, etc.)
- Proof of ownership for assets and intellectual property  (i.e., patents, trademarks, and copyright)

Teams qualified for the next stage will be contacted.  Due to high volume of applications for limited program seats, we do not have an estimated timeline for the waitlist.
