Better Block PSU

Better Block PSU is a partnership program between the volunteer-led group Better Block PDX and Portland State University (PSU) - encouraging everyone to imagine what spaces could be when they are designed for people.

Since 2015, our university program has partnered with community organizations to create implementation plans and designs for many community-driven transportation projects. These projects promote equitable placemaking, community building, and active transportation advocacy to create inviting and interactive places through tactical urbanism projects. This program provides a practicum experience for PSU Planning and Engineering students, increases capacity for community organizations, and has been successful at influencing policy and leading to permanent changes in Portland’s streetscape — most notably with the Better Naito project.

If selected, your project will go through the PSU Pathway program. If you have a vision for reimagining public space, an intersection, or streetscape to better meet the needs of all people, we encourage you to apply during the next RFP cycle (once annually in Jan - March).

This is a program of the Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) at PSU

This will add you to a contact list for future Better Block RFPs (once yearly Jan/Feb).
