AI models learn from a broad range of information, including publicly available images and text. Models “learn” concepts in a way similar to how people learn. For example, after viewing enough pictures of a cat, an image model can draw a completely new cat that was not in its training images, similar to how a person might learn to draw a cat.
After AI models have learned from their training data, they no longer have access to the data. The models only retain the concepts that they learned. When someone makes a request of a model, the model generates output based on its understanding of the concepts included in the request. It does not search for or copy content from an existing database.
We understand that some content owners may not want their publicly available works used to help teach our models. The most efficient way is to disallow “GPTBot” (a web crawler that gathers training data from publicly available Internet sources) from accessing your site by following the instructions here. Alternatively, you can also send us images of content that you own that you want to be removed from our training data by filling out the form below.When you complete this form, we will review your request and may reach out to you for additional information. Once your information has been verified, we will remove the respective images from future training datasets. Please note that we also obtain licenses to datasets which may include your specific image if you have allowed third parties to license your image to others, so submitting this form may not remove those specific images from our training data. If you have a high volume of images from specific URLs, then it may be more efficient for you to add GPTBot to your site’s robots.txt protocols rather than complete this form.
Please provide the necessary information about the image you are requesting to be excluded from future training datasets. The upload must be to the specific image that you own or is owned by the organization you are acting on behalf of. If you have multiple images, please add additional uploads as needed.
