MAKE IT BETTER FOUNDATION GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS

We established our Make It Better Foundation in 2013 as an extension of our mission to Believe in Better and improve the general welfare of the communities we serve.

Since the foundation’s inception, Cousins Subs has granted more than $1.2 million to organizations supporting three key areas vital to any community: Health & Wellness, Hunger and Youth Education. To apply for funding, please follow the application process outlined below.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI):
- Complete the online form below to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Make It Better Foundation.
- Please note: The deadlines listed below apply to the full grant application process. Full applications will only be accepted after your LOI has been reviewed and approved.
- We strongly recommend submitting your LOI well in advance of the full application deadline to allow ample time for review. LOIs submitted close to the deadline may not receive timely consideration.
Approval and Full Application:
- If your LOI meets our submission requirements, you will be invited to complete a full grant application. A prompt reply will be emailed to your organization.
- Please be mindful of board meeting dates when submitting for special projects, especially for initiatives that may take place before funding decisions are made.
Board Review:
- Full applications will be reviewed by the foundation's Board of Directors at the next quarterly board meeting. Please be aware that an invitation to submit a full application does not guarantee grant approval.
Restrictions:
- Funding cannot be used for compensation, stipends, scholarships or fundraising purposes.
- If your organization has previously received funding from the foundation, a minimum of one year must pass before submitting another application.

Greater consideration will be given to applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable, or educational organizations whose missions align with one of our three pillars: Health & Wellness, Hunger, and Youth Education.

2025 BOARD MEETING DATES & GRANT DEADLINES

New for 2025: After your LOI is approved, we will only review the first 40 full applications submitted each quarter. Please submit promptly to ensure your application is considered.

Q1: January 9, 2025
- Full applications due: December 9, 2024
Q2: April 2025
- Please Note: No grants will be reviewed at the April board meeting due to our annual scholarship program. Full applications submitted for Q2 will be automatically considered at the July board meeting.
Q3: July 10, 2025
- Full applications due: June 10, 2025
Q4: October 9, 2025
- Full applications due: September 9, 2025
