The Common

Community Futures
are working together to provide discounted venue rentals for community groups.
The Purpose
of this grant is to support new groups that wish to have regular meetings at The Common, and which are involved in specific sectors (see criteria below), but are unable to find funding for a venue rental.
The Goal

and connect in a physical space.

Events and meetings hosted by the group should be open to the general public.
We encourage some of the events or meetings covered by this grant, to appeal to a wider section of the community. This is to encourage connections between diverse groups and sectors, which is an underlying mission of The Common.
This grant is open to all community groups. Therefore, we encourage the applicant to use this grant to help develop a sustainable business model for their group so others can take advantage of this programme. Evidence of a growth plan and roadmap towards sustainable funding is highly encouraged.
Anyone can apply, however this grant is aimed at groups working in;
Technology:
Startups. Ai, Machine Learning, Entrepreneurship. Green economy.
Outdoor Recreation:
Film & Media. Apparel Design.
Human potential and well being:
Health and Wellness.
The application should demonstrate that the events or meetings held by the group are in some part, focused on one or more of the following two areas;

Cost

The grant is for groups that do not have a revenue stream, however we encourage groups to find one. Do you plan to charge a membership fee, fundraise, reach out to your network to generate revenue?
What funding are you looking for?

The Common will provide successful applicants a discounted venue rental of $100, for up to three hours. Movie setup is extra. For reference, a regular venue rental is between $250-500 per night.
Community Futures will provide funding of up to $1,000 per annum, per group to cover rental costs and marketing.
