Position Description

Role Purpose

The Business Development Manager (USA) is primarily responsible for achieving Advatek Lighting's revenue and customer satisfaction goals by acquiring new business, building client relationships and networks, developing and executing sales strategies and maintaining client service standards.

This role plays an important part in positioning Advatek Lighting as a leading designer and manufacturer through building brand awareness, reputation management and by working collaboratively across the business to drive financial performance and a superior customer experience.

First launched in Melbourne, Australia in 2012, we are known and trusted by experts in the industry for creating pixel control products that are innovative, affordable and reliable.

Home of the famous PixLite® controller, our products can be used for a vast number of projects. If you look closely enough, you will find Advatek equipment driving the magic behind some of the world’s most well-known and spectacular installations, galleries, museums, shows and events.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire product knowledge by identifying strengths and features which have potential buyer appeal, identify competitor products, prepare sales presentations, identify sales tactics and solutions and respond to buyer signals to negotiate and convert new prospects to actual sales.
  • Build client relationships and networks by identifying client needs and expectations, developing relationship management strategies, maintaining care and service standards and participating in business and professional development activities to establish and maintain a network, drive brand awareness and to enhance knowledge of the market.
  • Achieve sales goals based on organisational objectives, identify prospecting methods and criteria for qualifying leads, develop sales plans and utilise business systems to effectively manage prospects and convert them to loyal customers.
  • Compile and analyse market data, identify trends, pricing sensitivities, sales forecasts and performance and prepare periodical reports to guide informed decision making to ensure business development budget targets are achieved or exceeded.
  • Communicate effectively, share information, and work cooperatively with team members to contribute to the achievement of individual, team and organisational goals and customer experience.
  • Encourage positive safety behaviour and promote health and wellbeing to ensure that the workplace is safe, applying health and safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualified in Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.

Work Experience

  • Demonstrable sales success in meeting sales budget year on year
  • Significant business development experience working with technical products.
  • Experience in customer facing sales functions in a highly competitive sector advantageous.
  • Experience in maintaining all business development efforts in CRM systems.

Position Specific Requirements

  • Ambitious with a strong passion for driving new business growth in the lighting control space, leading the charge as champion for generating new opportunities across the region.
  • You are a pure hunter, have experience working across a range of lighting and/or audio-visual control products, complimented by extensive industry networks that will assist you to reach new levels in your sales career.
  • As a reputable and considerate professional, cold-calling comes as second nature. You are comfortable solving technical problems and providing advice in a B2B environment, building relationships based on trust while executing successful sales strategies for the business.
  • You are across market trends and have proven capability working within technical industries, building strong relationships, leveraging exceptional networks, and converting sales pipelines to close deals to achieve revenue targets.
  • You will embrace our team values and be able to work autonomously. You have proven yourself across multi-dimensional businesses and can manage a range of stakeholders and enjoy the thoroughness of reporting your wins and persisting through challenges.
  • You will have the flexibility and desire to travel widely within the region.
