2024-2025 Cohort Tampa Bay Watch Leadership Council

Description
The Tampa Bay Watch (TBW) Leadership Council (LC) is a group of environmentally conscious citizens from the Tampa Bay area with demonstrated professional success or significant community involvement who wish to serve, collaborate with, and advocate for the organization in a higher capacity.

Participants will learn through site visits, demonstrations and hands-on projects about TBW and its successful impacts on the Bay and area communities, as well as what they can do to support this work.

Mission
The purpose of the Leadership Council is:
  1. To help TBW better understand the community’s needs and how to meet them.
  2. To actively advocate for TBW and to educate the public on its history, projects, educational opportunities, and mission.
  3. To provide guidance on expanding organizational reach and financial support through the establishment of relationships with potential programmatic and funding partners.
  4. To assist with developing new and mutually beneficial connections between TBW and the Tampa Bay Area communities, funders, businesses, government, and non-governmental organizations.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain an active individual or corporate TBW membership.
  2. Be a regular and active participant in Leadership Council meetings, which will be held at TBW or field locations relevant to the TBW mission. These meetings will provide “insider” briefings on the state of the organization and Tampa Bay, and include discussions on how each member can strategically assist TBW in reaching its goals.
  3. Offer Counsel to the President, Chief Executive Officer, and other committee members on issues pertinent to the member’s professional and subject matter expertise.
  4. Act as an advocate and help make connections with individuals, corporations and foundations that support the TBW mission and vision.
  5. Volunteer for a habitat restoration or education project, attend at least one special event of Tampa Bay Watch, and seek opportunities that resonate with you to become more involved with Tampa Bay Watch.
  6. Continue to be an active member, advocate and supporter of TBW beyond the Leadership Council term and involve family, friends and coworkers as appropriate.

Time Commitment
Members of the Leadership Council are expected to participate in each of seven scheduled sessions over a period of nine months. Meetings and field trips are generally 4 - 6 hours in length.  All members will receive frequent organization updates, advance notice of important announcements and timely materials needed for each meeting or field trip.
