Join our 2024 API Local News Summit on Elections, Trust and Democracy

The American Press Institute is holding a summit on April 3-4 in Akron, Ohio, to identify and advance solutions that help news leaders strengthen community relationships through their local election reporting — against the backdrop of declining trust in the media and threats to democratic institutions.

The summit is designed for discussion and exchanging ideas, rather than panels. It's free, invitation-based and we anticipate up to 60 attendees. Participants must agree to Chatham House Rules to ensure the openness of the conversations.

If you have experience or interest in leading innovative local elections coverage or work in spaces beyond journalism that would add to our discussion (e.g. civic engagement, bridge-building or other similar fields), please fill out this form by Wednesday, March 6, at 11:59 p.m. ET to be considered for an invitation.

Have questions? Reach out to Kevin Loker, API's director of strategic partnerships and research, at kevin.loker@pressinstitute.org.

The summit will take place on April 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on April 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an optional happy hour to follow. Are you interested and able to attend the full 2-day summit?*
