Better Giving Framework

We’re thrilled to kick off the year by sharing Draft 1 of AIDN’s “Better Giving Framework”.

Since launching in 2018, AIDN has pursued our mission of “more” and “better” international giving and investing from Australians. In a world with an ever increasing need for development funding, we've encouraged collaboration and created an environment for the exploration of the "more". We are now turning our attention to exploring the "better".

What does "better" international giving and investing from Australians look like to you?

The Better Giving Framework outlines what we believe, and what our network has helped us to understand, are the key principles that underpin “better” giving and investing in today’s international development sector. We now invite you to review the draft and share your feedback here to help refine this important resource.

Once we gather responses to this survey, we will be hosting a series of webinars on the Better Giving Framework to further foster discussion on what “better” giving means in today’s international development sector. Following our webinar series, we will release a final version of the Better Giving Framework to our network.

Principle #1: “Those closest to the problem, have the best solutions”: investing in local leadership.

Principle #2: Trust-based philanthropy

Principle #3: Partner for the long term (but also plan for sustainable “graduation”)

Principle #4: A focus on impact

Principle #5: Cross-sector collaboration and partnerships
