InterPlay: Increasing Self-Knowledge and Joy through Creative Play

Presented by LaVerne Baker Hotep

Join us to experience InterPlay, a fun, trauma- informed, and creative way to unlock the wisdom of the body through a series of incremental "expressions." All five performative ways of the body will be included: movement, voice, word, stillness, and contact. We’ll explore ways to establish empathic connections to ourselves and each other as we tell our stories. Beginning with reminders to regulate breath (BIBO: breathe in, breathe out), you will learn how to:

  • enhance your own body’s awareness and that of your clients and/or staff
  • connect with your own creativity while engaging in movement, gestures and storytelling
  • experience games that spread contentment, ease, and comfort throughout any space
  • release stuck emotions and attune with others so fast it will astound you
  • employ amusing, “sneaky-deep” methods of self-recovery that can help you regulate your nervous system and widen your window of tolerance

InterPlay gives both therapists and clients more embodied paths for self-discovery and personal healing. We'll discuss examples of ways these practices can be embedded in therapeutic settings.
