About Mediation:
Mediation is free, confidential, and voluntary. It is a conversation that allows both parties to come together to discuss and create solutions for any housing-related issues. A neutral, third-party mediator will facilitate the conversation, which will be held virtually.

Good Faith Participation:
By deciding to join mediation, both sides commit to being fair and open by actively talking to each other when issues arise that could impede a successful mediation process. JMP provides a mediation service as an option to going to court for eviction cases. So, when people choose to be part of our program, we expect them to try mediation before going to court.

Court Filings:
At this time, we cannot accept requests for mediation if there has already been a landlord/tenant complaint filed with the magistrate. If you already have a court hearing scheduled, please visit the Housing Stabilization Center, Monday - Thursday, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm, at 415 Seventh Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Steps to Mediation:
1. Submit this intake form on Just Mediation Pittsburgh's website
2. A member of JMP's staff will contact you. Please check your emails, texts, and voicemails to ensure that you receive their outreach. Due to the high volume of cases, please expect a delay in getting back to you, but be assured that we have your information.
3. Complete a 15-20 minute intake call with one of JMP's intake specialists to complete an in depth intake, collect required information for the program, and to determine your eligibility for mediation.
4. After completing intake, the intake specialist will contact your landlord to request mediation. Mediation is voluntary, so your landlord will need to agree to mediate.
5. The intake specialist will notify you after they have reached out to your landlord to let you know if mediation can proceed.
6. If your landlord declines mediation: We can provide you with resources for other assistance and an exit form.
7. If your landlord agrees to mediation: We will notify you of the date and time of your mediation and provide you with information for how to prepare.
