Training Course: Open Source Contribution In Finance

Many firms within the finance space are dipping their toes into open source contribution. However, in order to do this they require that their staff are trained to understand the risks of contribution and the procedures for doing so safely.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the regulations/processes around social media usage wrt open source contribution
  • Understand the regulations/processes around publishing open source contributions from within a financial institution
  • Understand processes around using open source components within financial software
  • Be aware of security risks/considerations and how to mitigate them
  • Understand how existing bank regulations intersects with open source development.

FINOS / TODO Financial Services Certified Open Source Developer (COSD)

The FINOS / TODO Certified Open Source Developer exam is designed for developers contributing to open source projects whilst working in financial institutions internationally. Passers of this certification will have demonstrated:

  • firm conceptual understanding of the ways in which open source contribution and collaboration should take place within the finance industry.
  • the impact of regulation on their behavior and the expectations this places on them operating both within their own firm and publicly on open source projects
  • an understanding of safe usage, contribution and collaboration of open source as it pertains to the finance industry.

It is expected that this certification can be used as a professional qualification, and passers will be awarded a badge they can share on social media.
