The Advanced Education Research and Development Fund (AERDF) invites you to join US Department of Education Assistant Secretary Roberto J. Rodriguez alongside two of our core collaborators—former Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) Program Leader Joshua Elliott of the Brains Institute and Dr. MC Brown II of the Payne Center for Social Justice—for a 30-minute virtual conversation about the essential role of R&D in propelling our nation’s future through uncovering new, transformative breakthroughs.

This free, virtual convening is also an opportunity for those looking to learn more about AERDF’s search for its next Program Executive Director, who will lead an initiative with a budget of up to $25M. During the second half of our session, attendees will hear about the application process and the support that Program Executive Director candidates can expect to receive throughout the process. In the first part of the session, participants will:

  • Explore how Advanced Inclusive R&D can be an engine of innovation for our nation’s future


In the second part of the session, participants will discover how AERDF’s Advanced Inclusive R&D approach addresses long-standing teaching and learning challenges and opportunities for new breakthroughs. Guidance will be provided by Garron Hillaire, AERDF's Director of Learning Initiatives, Kyla Haimovitz, Consulting Lead Designer, and AERDF's CLO Chris Liang-Vergara.

  • Hear about school and community opportunities for grant-supported R&D projects with AERDF 
  • Learn more about the essential role of an AERDF Program Executive Director in creating multigenerational change for learners across the nation
  • Clarify additional details about AERDF’s AdvancED Fellowship and how it is specifically designed to support you in crafting your transformative idea and concept into an AERDF program — ready to be funded with a budget of up to $25 million
  • Understand how to schedule Office Hours sessions for AERDF Program Executive Director applicants

We are accepting applications for AERDF’s Next Program Executive Director on a rolling basis. Applicants must state their intent to apply by May 23, 2024, with all materials due by May 31, 2024. Eight finalists will be selected to join AERDF’s AdvancED Fellowship in June 2024. The AdvancED Fellowship starts July 19, 2024.
